Welcome to Second Grade! My name is Tina Alvarado and I have the privilege to be your child's teacher this school year.
I am truly excited about this new year. I have many learning activities planned for the year. One of the most important priorities is to communicate with you, so I encourage you to let me know me what I can do make this year even better.
This year will be my nineteenth year in education (time flies when you are having fun and loving what you do). I have taught a variety of grade levels and have been an administrator with my last school district. I am a firm believer in perseverance and a positive growth mindset.
I received my Bachelor's Degree from Tarleton State University and my Master's and Doctorate Degrees from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. I am certified in Elementary Education (PK-6th grade), English Second Language (ESL), obtained my Gifted and Talented (GT) hours, and have my Principal certification. I have also been trained in Marzano's Art and Science of Teaching and High Reliability Schools Framework. I have developed a Balanced Literacy Framework and Response to Intervention (RtI) system in my previous positions.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Jack, who is retired and stays home with our fur babies. We love to travel in our Airstream and explore interesting and new areas. I love reading (especially children's books) and spend as much quality time as I can with my family and friends. I am a HUGE coffee drinker and you will probably find a coffee in my hand in the mornings.
Again, welcome to Second Grade!!
